This is a quick bread to make. It is full of wonderful flavors, it is a great side to any salad, cold, or hot soup. This bread should be eaten as fresh as possible. Recipe contains dairy.
Ingredients:
- Butter, for greasing
- 2 cups self-rising flour ( or use all-purpose flour and 2 tsp baking powder)
- 1 tsp. Kosher salt
- 1 tsp. mustard powder
- 1 cup grated sharp cheese
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced or chopped green onion
- 2 tsp. Chopped fresh dill
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 T. melted butter
Steps:
- Grease a 9 inch square or round cake pan with a little butter and line the bottom of the pan with baking parchment paper. ( you can use Pam baking spray if you wish)
- Sift the flour, salt, and mustard powder into large bowl.
- Reserve 3 Tbsp of grated cheese for sprinkling over the top before baking.
- Stir the remaining grated cheese into the bowl of flour. Mix together with the chopped green onion.
- Add the beaten egg, melted butter, and milk to the dry ingredients and stir the mixture until well combined.
- Pour mixture into prepared pan and spread evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle reserved grated cheese over the top of the bread.
- Bake bread in a preheated oven at 375 degree, for about 30 minutes.
- Let the bread cool slightly in pan. Turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. Cut into triangles and serve.
